Grinning heart – A (gulp!) Otome game review by Uncle Mugen

Let’s see… this rather short one by ngareci from Lemmasoft forums… (I don’t know if this is an Otome game or Straight but for convenience sake let’s treat this as an Otome) I don’t usually review Otome games let alone go near one since it might damage my macho reputation as Uncle Mugen but I’m pretty bored today and the word count is kinda short which makes it attractive and tempting for me to try it out…

And so here we are… the first thing Uncle Mugen does after downloading an OELVN is… to extract it’s contents and see what sorcery or juicy tricks are inside… surprisingly the whole game isn’t archived which is pretty rare nowadays… this is very good for people who are still learning Ren’py and can use this game as an example to see how things work…

OK back to game… first thing I noticed is it uses the default Ren’py interface… which is not bad since it does the job pretty well… the color scheme perfectly matches the game…

OK… OK to the game this time… some people might find this annoying but the sudden transition from the joyful music in the main-menu to the DONG gloomy sound in-game is way WAY too sudden… and the author is playing safe by including a disclaimer XD…

And here we have the Male in this OELVN… a really handsome and incredibly bored vampire… at this part I am now beginning to question whose POV I’m watching or is this a straight or an Otome game…

The dialogue is really obviously meant for female readers. It is giving me this girly vibes early in the game… I don’t like it and the chibi graphic overlay reinforces it… it makes me feel uncomfortable but at the same time it had this inexplicable hook to it urging me to continue…

Oh my GULAY… my male macho vibes is slowly fading away… I’m beginning to see pink haze and rainbows and sparkling bubbles and flowers and Gaussian Blur all over the place!… I want to see more MORE… MORE!!!

OH MY GOD! OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD! GO FUCK ALREADY YOU TWO!!!

And finally… the mandatory sex scene… NOT!… LOL!

Anyway, I’m gonna stop at this point in order not to spoil things since this is a pretty short work and this point is literally halfway through the game… this is a good 10 to 15 minute read that will give you this tingling sensation to your sides. The art is not so good but who cares… the story offsets it… I usually avoid games of this kind but seeing how good they are I think I’ll play them more now…

And so I Uncle Mugen is now giving this rare, coveted and very much sought after…
