July 31, 2013

Back then I said this…

The lack of an open complete GUI example featuring Imagebuttons is probably one of the biggest wall in Ren’py that prevents layman people like me from adopting this superior method… While Imagemap is easier to use… everyone knows that the future of Ren’py belongs to Imagebuttons…

And then comes Leon from Lemmasoft

Not anymore, Uncle Mugen! Here is a complete GUI example so everyone can learn to imagebutton!

So here it is…

“That Lucy… is the glorious sound of several dozen bursting anuses…”

OK, the title is actually a line from the project I’m working on “Lamest of Lame” and doesn’t have anything to do with what I will post today XD

Anyways, I already finalized how the GUI hud will appear in game. I went with a conservative approach and once again used the same template I used in my previous projects, slightly modified to produce a worry free working GUI hud.

It is made up of beautiful vibrant orange yellow with high contrasting black to stand out from the background and make the text more visible. There is the in-game buttons that will not contain the GENUFLECT option but the most important thing is the addition of the POV (Point of View) indicator since this OELVN will have you jumping from one person to another. The indicator will reduce confusion.

Uncle Mugen says… This is all for now to prevent spoilers…

Have nice day! XD

Cuter than Fiction – GUI is now complete

September 9, 2012

OK what you see here is 1/4 of the whole GUI work in the whole game…

This time I go the minimalist approach and only included the absolute necessary options and remove the rest… that also includes the save and load since this is very short work so no save and load required… I also bumped the resolution from 450×800 to 600×800 and go portrait style just for the heck of it… I also figured how to add scanlines in renpy without distorting when scaled down… by simply spading them at least 3 pixels apart…

Oh well… not much exciting progress to report since most of the work are on scripting and optimizing and if I go further I risk spoiling things… Lol…

More to come…
